Andrew Himelick

Andrew M. Himelick is the director of the ICC Carmel Choir and previously was a preparatory program director for seven years working with both second and third grade programs. He has also been on staff with the ICC during the annual Choral Festival in past years. He has been a music teacher in Carmel Clay Schools since 1993 beginning at Cherry Tree Elementary School and currently teaching at Towne Meadow Elementary School.

Mr. Himelick graduated from Butler University in 1993 with a Bachelor of Music degree in music education (K 12 choral/general music). While at Butler he studied choral conducting with Mr. Henry Leck. Mr. Himelick did his student teaching with Meredith Leck at Central Elementary School in Pike Township. He was awarded Outstanding Student Teacher by Butler University. In 1999, he completed the Kodály Certificate of Music Education from Silver Lake College, Manitowoc, Wisconsin. He completed Orff-Schulwerk Levels I and II at the University of St. Thomas St. Paul, Minnesota in 2001 and 2002, and Level III at Anderson University, Anderson, Indiana in 2005. He received the Indiana University School of Education Martha Lea and Bill Armstrong Teacher Educator Award for the 2006-2007 Academic Year.

Mr. Himelick has been a member of the Music Educators National Conference, Indiana Music Educators Association, American Orff-Schulwerk Association, Indiana Orff-Schulwerk Association, Organization of American Kodály Educators, and Indiana Kodály Educators. He is a member of the Celebrative Arts Ministry at Traders Point Christian Church in Indianapolis. He, his wife Lori, son Jaren, and daughter Jenna live in Indianapolis.
