Children younger than 4th grade are invited to participate in the ICC's Early Childhood Division through the First Steps in Music program (children 6 and younger) or the Preparatory program (children in 1st-4th grades).
4th through 9th Grade
Children in 4th through 9th grades are invited to audition for the Indianapolis Children's Choir Division or the Columbus Indiana Children's Choir Division, consisting of 16 choirs (8 on campus at Butler University; 2 in Columbus, Indiana; and 8 in regional satellite locations outside of Indianapolis). Auditions are held by ICC artistic staff to assess musical skills in a fun and interactive few minutes. Youngsters are not required to prepare any material but asked to participate in simple exercises and even "sing-a-longs" to identify skill level and appropriate potential placement in an ensemble.
Staff is also available to answer questions about rehearsal schedule,
tuition, financial assistance, and touring opportunities. Auditions are
scheduled in January, May, and August annually.
10th through 12th Grade
Youth in 10th
through 12th grades are invited to audition for either an advanced choir
in the Children's Choir Division or for the Indianapolis Youth Chorale
Division. Auditions are fun and interactive and provide a great
opportunity to meet and talk with the ICC artistic staff. Auditions are
held on a competitive basis in January, May, and August until the choirs
are filled. Some singers may be placed on a waiting list if space is
limited. For further information, please contact Aaron Hurt at
317.940.8073. Questions? Contact the ICC office at 317.940.9640 or
